Jeremiah La Touche Cuyler was born in New York to Telamon and Jeanne Cuyler in 1768. His family moved to Savannah, Georgia, where his father died. When Jeremiah's mother returned to New York, he remained in Savannah. On April 21, 1793, he married Margaret Elizabeth Clarendon (December 27, 1777-August 1835). They had eleven children.
